These one-day small group workshops offer the opportunity to come away from the workplace and reflect on the next stage of your career. We explore the challenges faced by senior clinicians, and take stock of current skills, knowledge and strengths with respect to your role. We use a simple coaching model for peer-coaching, as well as using well-established career tools/exercises to aid reflection and planning. Most importantly it will provide you with the time and space to think creatively about the next stage of your career.

Retention of the senior medical workforce has become a priority within the NHS. These workshops are effective in empowering senior clinicians to re-engage with their career and make changes which will increase engagement, fulfilment and career longevity.
I'm currently collaborating with HEE TV and with several NHS Trusts in the SE to deliver workshops for their senior clinicians.

"We are now embarking on our third year of having Lois deliver Pitstop workshops to our senior clinicians - the feedback has been excellent, with participants relishing the opportunity to take time away from work to reflect on their careers and plan next steps. It's really clear from the feedback that Lois is regarded as an excellent facilitator, who enables the participants to embrace new ideas and develop their own solutions to re-energise their working lives." Dr Simon Ward, Deputy Medical Director, Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust
"Following the second ‘Career Pitstops for Senior Clinicians’ for CNWL workshop I wanted to share some feedback and reflections. Interest in this course has been unprecedented and far exceeded our hoped ambitions within the Trust. Both courses booking out within two hours of the invite being sent out and both had a waiting list. This highlights that the course content taps into a much wanted area of support for consultants within the trust.
In addition, when consultants are asked for feedback after the course, the feedback has been universally positive, with comments such as:
Definitely recommend for colleagues
All consultants should do!
Thank you. It was eye opening and useful.
One of the best workshops I have attended that helps with thinking out of the box
Excellent! Very useful and extremely enjoyable.
Liberating and refreshing
Lois is a brilliant facilitator.
Great to have the space to consider options, I feel better equipped to tease out the things that make my job worthwhile and to give it longevity
As a Trust we have found this to be a positive and innovative way of addressing the challenging issue of career longevity and engagement amongst our senior medical workforce. Lois is an engaging and skilled facilitator and it’s clear that delegates have really valued this course. They’ve also expressed a sense of being invested in and valued as a result of the Trust making this course available which has enhanced the view of the trust leadership by consultants.
Whilst it is too early to know whether it will translate into improved retention and long term morale, we are collecting longer-term feedback to review this." Dr Simon Edwards, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Central and North West London NHS Trust
